About

Martha Okot Thomas (she/her) – Principal Consultant

First, I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to the Nations of the Lekwungen speaking people, now known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations as well as the WSANEC First Nations upon whose traditional territories I have the privilege to work and live.

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, I have been a B.C. resident for almost 30 years. Currently living in Langford B.C. I have two daughters, a son-in-law and our dogs Finn and Maui. I am a CPA, CA and have my CIA designation. After 17 years in various progressive roles in the BC Government and 4.5 years at the BC Investment Management Corporation (BCI), I am venturing off on my own.

I have built a large repertoire of professional and interpersonal skills starting as an Internal Auditor and working my way up to Executive Director/CFO in government. I have been sitting on Boards of Directors for over 15 years in various positions including National President, Board Chair, Director at Large, Program Director and Treasurer. Most recently I got experience in the Investment Industry working in Internal Audit/Internal Controls. My strength lies in my ability to take complex problems and find workable and cost-effective solutions. My passion involves the study of ethical behaviour and accountability. I love to help improve business and improve lives.

My favourite pastime is travel. When I am not working, I can be found climbing up mountains, wandering through forests or swimming in a lake or the ocean. If I am not on a plane going somewhere exciting, you may find me in my car driving across the country.

Life is a Journey, Not a Destination –  Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am making the most of this journey.
